Ramayana

ACT (A Contemporary Theatre) takes on the ancient Sanskrit epic, using dance, music and puppetry to tell the story of Rama, a virtuous avatar of the god Vishnu, who comes to earth and falls in love with the beautiful Sita. The beloved tale works on many levels: It’s at once an action adventure, a love story, and a hefty moral exploration that wrestles with the quandary of being forced to choose between personal happiness and responsibility to society. Among the beloved Seattle artists involved are actors Cheyenne Casebier, Brandon O’Neill, Ray Tagavilla and Todd Jefferson Moore; choreographer Maureen Whiting; and co-directors Sheila Daniels and Kurt Beattie.
